15th August is already here, and we are lucky enough to celebrate the 77th Independence Day honouring the hard-earned freedom of our nation — the victory of courage, resilience and the undying spirit of millions. As we proudly wave the Tiranga - our tricolour flag, it is important to remember the deep meaning that it carries to inspire our personal journeys towards true independence. While we reflect on the freedom our country achieved decades ago, it is equally important to chase the shadows that still lie within.
"True independence is when the liberation of a nation inspires the liberation of the self."
At Menstrulog, we believe that independence starts from within—when we break free from the shackles that bind our minds and bodies.
How Our National Flag Symbolizes True Independence?
Independence, in its truest form, goes beyond the political and social freedoms we enjoy today. It is deeply personal—a state of being where we are free to live authentically, to express ourselves without fear and to care for our minds and bodies without judgment. In order to achieve this state one has to break free from the cages of societal expectations and the mental barriers that hold us back. The values symbolized by the Tiranga guide us on this path of inner freedom.
Saffron represents the strength and courage we need to face the challenges of mental health and menstrual wellness. It is the fire that fuels our resilience as we confront these often-taboo topics.
White stands for clarity and honesty—qualities essential for open discussions about our health. It symbolizes the purity of intent and the freedom to seek truth in our personal struggles without judgment.
Green reflects the progress we aim for, both in our personal well-being and in societal attitudes. It is the growth we achieve when we prioritize our mental and physical health, moving forward on the path to true independence.
For many, the journey towards the true essence of independence is ongoing. Menstrual health, mental well-being and self-care are areas where freedom is often limited by cultural taboos and misconceptions. True independence is achieved when we can seek help without fear, talk about our struggles without shame, and prioritize our well-being without guilt.
How Many Lives is this Independence Worth?
In every context, the cost of independence is immeasurable, whether in our nation’s freedom as a whole or in the personal battle's individuals fight every day. How many lives are touched, changed, or saved when someone finds the courage to speak about their mental health struggles? How many women feel empowered when they can discuss their menstrual health openly without fear of stigma? The value of this inner independence is priceless as it lays the foundation for a life lived with dignity, self-respect and confidence.
Every step towards this personal independence is a victory—a silent revolution that begins within each of us. At Menstrulog, we stand by those on this journey by offering support through the healing power of music and the strength of community. We believe that much like the Dharma Chakra on our flag symbolizes the path of righteousness, our efforts help guide individuals on their path to reclaiming freedom and living more fulfilling lives.
Where the Head is Held High
Independence is a continuous process of growth, understanding, and liberation. It all starts from within—in the choices we make for our health, in the courage we find to speak our truth, and in the support, we offer to one another. By combining music with awareness and education, we act as barriers against the barriers that prevent people from seeking help and understanding.
This 15th August, let the values of the Tiranga—sacrifice, clarity, and progress guide us on this journey —because when we are free from within, we are truly free.
